5th Annual Three Rivers Federal Credit Union: Pedal, Paddle, Play!

Northeast Indiana Water Trails invites you to the 5th annual Three Rivers Federal Credit Union: Pedal, Paddle, Play!

This year’s Pedal, Paddle, Play offers event participants the chance to explore Northeast Indiana’s land and water trails at their own pace, all while maintaining a safe social distance from the crowds of our typical event. Current circumstances have changed the way we're living our daily lives, but the trails still call- Pedal, Paddle, Play is your chance to get out and discover something new, contribute to fund-raising efforts to improve access to outdoor recreation on our region’s waterways, and have the chance to win some great prizes, including a complete kayak package donated by Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot!

Between May 9 and July 17 at noon, registered participants are challenged to snap a selfie or photo of a friend with the Northeast Indiana Water Trails logo in view (print it, screenshot it, draw it, wear it!) while traveling the area’s land and water trails. All that’s left is to post your photos to NEIWT’s Instagram (@neiwatertrails) or Facebook page with the #pedalpaddleplay2020 hashtag...and mention the trail or waterway where the photo was taken. If you do not have social media, you can send the picture and where the picture was taken to us using our contact page at www.neiwatertrails.com/contact and we will post it for you. Each post will give the registrant a ticket (up to a maximum of six per each paid registrant) to be entered into the famous Pedal, Paddle, Play prize drawing!

If you register after July17th at noon, you will be required to bring your registration confirmation to Promenade Park north dock (on the Fort Wayne Outfitters side of the the river under the tree top canopy trail) before 1pm to be entered into the prize drawing.

For the safety of all our pedaling and paddling friends the prize drawing will take place at 1PM on Saturday, July 18th via Facebook Live. All tickets will be entered into a general drawing; winners will be randomly selected for each prize as they are announced. Participants need not be present to win and winners will be notified via email by July 19th.

All registrants are invited to join the Pedal, Paddle, Play event planning committee for a PADDLE SOCIAL on July 18th from 11am to 1pm starting at Promenade Park. We will explore Fort Wayne's three rivers then reconvene at Promenade for the prize drawing at the north dock at 1pm. You can choose to hang out in your boat to hear if you are one of the lucky winners or keep paddling on (you are not required to participate in the paddle social to to be entered into the prize drawing and you do not need to be present to win). We encourage you to stick close with your group while maintaining a respectful social distance from other participants.

If you are bringing your own boat we recommend you put in at Guldlin Park (400 Van Buren Street) where there is a concrete boat ramp, floating dock, and plenty of parking. It is a short 15 minute paddle to Promenade Park where we will all meet up. If you need to rent a boat we recommend you do it ahead of time from Fort Wayne Outfitters and Bike Depot at fwoutfitters.com/canoes-kayaks-sups/ (all boat rentals are contactless and they require all transactions to take place online).

Registration is only $20 for an individual or $35 for a pair, and includes an event t-shirt (Show your registration confirmation to pick your shirt up at either Fort Wayne Outfitters in Ft. Wayne, IN; or Trading Post Canoe, Kayak & Campground, in Howe, IN; or by mail for an additional fee).

Bikes, canoes, and kayaks are available for rent at several businesses throughout the region. A list of some of the outfitters offering services can be found here: neiwatertrails.com/explore/outfitters-liveries

The purpose of this event is to encourage the exploration of the water and land trails in NE Indiana, and raise funds for the Northeast Indiana Water Trails to improve access to outdoor recreation on our waterways throughout Northeast Indiana. Funds raised this year will be used to continue the Trail Head sign program for the 87 boat access sites on flowing waters in NE Indiana and to assist with water trail creation on a 14 mile stretch of the Wabash River in Wells County.
