About Tyson |
Tyson Twitchel was in a fatal car accident on Saturday, April 13th, 2013 at 8:38am while on his way to work.
It started out as a typical Saturday morning, he woke up, took a shower, ate breakfast and left for work. Not long after he left, the dreaded phone call, in which every parent fears, was received. It was the hospital saying they had Tyson, he had been in an accident and it was imperative we get there right away. Tyson survived, by some miracle, for 4 hours. He even survived surgery removing his shattered kidney, but shortly after, his heart stopped and they were unable to revive him. He died at 12:38pm.
Tyson had just turned 18 on March 3rd, 2013 and was a junior at Galesburg High School. Tyson had many friends, a few have made comments on his Facebook page stating how they miss being able to talk to him. His friends could trust him and confide in him. Because of this, we find it appropriate to raise money to donate to a program supporting teenagers. Something Tyson would like, helping others.
The logo being used (the two lower case t's), is Tyson's drawing on a wall in his bedroom. Seen in a photo on our website. It will be on the medals for the kids and the t-shirts as well. We truly appreciate everyone's participation and support to get through another anniversary, by turning something so tragic into something positive and good. The race will be held where the accident occurred, in the 100 block of Walnut street (by the old Aldi), in Galesburg, IL. Please visit our website for more information at www.runforareason.webs.com. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us and our goal.
Proceeds will be divided between Grief Camp for Kids, Moms For Tomorrow, and Initiative for Girls.
