Iwo Jima Flag Run Procedure |
Due to Palo Duro State Park no longer allowing pedestrian traffic on the road leading in and out of the canyon we have made some changes to the run. We believe everyone will like this new format better.
The run will start and finish in the parking lot of the Texas Amphitheater which is directly across from the Mack Dick Pavilion. From the parking area there is a CCC Trail leading to the top of the canyon. The 6 person flag teams will carry the American flag on a tough uphill trail to the top of the canyon. There will be another flag flying that overlooks the amphitheater. The teams will then replace their flag with the one at the top and return to the amphitheater. The run is not as far as last year but it is all trail and will be much more difficult. It will be challenging but fun!
