Join us August 10th, 2019 at 8:00 AM for an electrifying race and family friendly street festival.

The race takes place on the scenic brick streets in Adel along the parade route in front of hundreds of spectators. It is exciting to watch the streets come alive as the community celebrates a small town Iowa festival.

After the Adel Sweet Corn Festival 5K run, stick around for one of Iowa’s largest parades. Then, head to Adel’s town square for free delicious Deardorf Sweet Corn. The festival is complete with fantastic food vendors and live entertainment for the entire family.

On-site registration – August 9th and 10th -- $35.00, Cash or check only, no t-shirt.

Strollers and Wheelchairs are permitted on the course, dogs are allowed for medical reasons only.

No refunds, no transfers. T-shirt is similar to last year's in material, 2018, with a cotton blend.

Timing is done by True Timing.

Limited parking in town.

Transportation will be provided from the ADM High School to the square starting 6:30am.

The Annual Sweet Corn Kid’s Fun Run! This race will take place at 7:45am, just before the 5K at 8:00am, and will start at the start/finish line, one lap around the school, and end at the start/finish line. Parents are allowed and encouraged to escort younger children.

1st-3rd overall in both men’s and women’s categories. In addition, awards for top 2 men and top 2 women runners in each of the following age groups:

Costume Contest for best dressed Sweet corned outfit (open to 5K and Kid fun run participants).

Local business owners, excited community members, and Adel Chamber of Commerce leadership, come together to raise funding for the Kinnick to Raccoon Trail Improvement Project. This amazing team brings awareness to Adel's wonderful community and local pride by supporting, managing and hosting the annual Sweet Corn 5K and Kids Fun Run.

The Kinnick to Raccoon Trail Improvement project consists of: the “In the Shadow of the Rails” artwork, which is a continuation of the “Waukee Railroad Pergola: In the Shadows of the Rails” project, and lighting the trail bridge, which will be great enjoyment to visitors to the community as well as the local citizens.

The “In the Shadow of the Rails” brings continuation to the lively integration of public-art and infrastructure based on the history of the railroad.
