Event takes place at Crown Hill Cemetery located at 700 W. 38th Street. Enter off of Clarendon Road just north of 38th Street. Once in the facility, there will be free parking.
About The Event |
Beyond the Badge is a 5K run and walk and a 1.5 mile family Stroll. This event is in honor of Sheriff's Deputy Jason Baker, who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 17, 2001, protecting our community. Proceeds from the event go to the Jason Baker Foundation, Inc., a 501 (c) 3, provides scholarships for those pursuing a career in the field of public safety.
Packet Pick-Up and Late Registration |
You can register late or pick up your packet on Event morning from 7:30 am to 9:00 am at the event site.
Race day registration will be $35, shirts are not guaranteed.
The Course |
Both the 5K run and walk (both will start together at 9 AM) will travel throughout Crown Hill Cemetery. The course will include the famous "HILL" which is the highest point in Marion County. Expect water stations along the course. The 1.5 Mile Family Stroll will begin at 9:05 AM.
Awards / Age Groups |
Awards will be presented to the top 3 overall finishers in the run. In addition there will be a prize presented to the top 3 male and female finishers in each age category for the run. Age groups include 12 under, 13-14, 15-19, 20-24...80 and over (run division only)
Teams |
The 5K Team Competition consists of public safety and civilian teams each competing within their respective divisions. Team members are also eligible for individual awards.
ALL TEAMS are to be comprised of 4 (minimum) to 10 (maximum) members and must have a team name. They can be all male, all female, or co-ed and can be of any age. The finish times for the first 4 team members will count towards the final team score with the accumulative time determining the team's overall finishing place. All team members (max. of 10) in the top 3 teams will receive an award.
PUBLIC SAFETY TEAMS are comprised of men and women working in public safety as sworn Law Enforcement Officers, Fire Services Officers, and EMT personnel, and can be comprised of a combination of members from all of those areas. They cannot include civilian members. Departments can have as many teams as desired or join with other departments to form a team. The winning public safety team will be presented the Heroes of Public Safety Team Award to be displayed in their department.
CIVILIAN TEAMS are comprised of men and women and can include both civilian and public safety team members. The winning team will be presented with the Beyond the Badge Civilian Team Award.
