As many of you are aware, or maybe not, The Walgreen Bridge has been deemed structurally unsound and is permanently closed until the funds can be secured to either update or replace.

Because the Garden does not receive any Federal/ State funding, all the funds needed for this project will need to be procured via donations.

Please consider an add-on donation to the "Bridge Fund" so we can once again enjoy all the that Walgreen Bridge has to offer.

All proceeds from the race, after expenses, will go directly to the Lincoln Memorial Garden.

Lincoln Memorial Garden is a 110-acre tract along the shore of Lake Springfield designed by Jens Jensen to honor President Lincoln's memory by recreating the woodland and prairie landscape he would have encountered in the early 19th century in central Illinois. The garden is host to many educational and recreational activities each year. It receives no state or federal funding and strictly relies on the generosity of donors. The rolling and sometimes flat course will be held on the grounds of the Lincoln Memorial Gardens, Ostermeier Prairie Center, and along Forest Ridge. The trails inside the Gardens are mostly double/triple track and the make-up of the trail is dirt, mulch, limestone, and paved roads. The course will include two water stops that will be passed twice for your convenience. Environmentally friendly ground markings as well as eye-level directional signs, as needed, will be displayed/provided.

Kid's Fun Run:
The kid's fun run will be held on the Lincoln Memorial Garden's property located on the east side of East Lake Drive. The course is generally flat and will consist of running through a path cut in the prairie grass and over a bridge which spans a pond. Environmentally friendly ground markings will help direct the kids along the course.

Shirts are guaranteed to all entrants if registered prior to May 2, 2017. After that date, shirts/ shirt size availability cannot be guaranteed.

Specially created finisher's medals will be given to all the athletes crossing the finisher line.

Age group awards will be given to the overall Male and Female, the top Male and Female in the Master's division, and to the top 1/3 or top 3 (whichever is greater) in each of the following age group categories:

• 14 and under[*]15-19[*]20-24[*]25-29[*]30-34[*]35-39[*]40-44[*]45-49[*]50-54[*]55-59[*]60-64[*]65-69[*]70-74[*]75-79[*]80 and over

Walkers will be eligible for age group awards

Awards will not be given for the Kid's Fun Run but they can expect finisher's medals.

Lincoln Memorial Garden (Race site)

The 8K event will be a time trial start, with the faster runners at the front, and will be utilizing tag timing. Overall & Age Group awards will be based solely on chip time. All runners must wear their timing tag to be scored. If your tag falls off during the race, your finish time may not be recorded.

The Kid's Fun Run will not be timed.

The race director(s) reserve the right to cancel, postpone, or modify the race due to adverse weather or emergency conditions that make race conditions unsafe. In the event the race is cancelled, there will be no refunds.
