Event Details

Cardboard Boat Race is a Fundraiser to help Girl Scout Troop 9004 make a trip to Savannah GA, 2020 and open to the public. Boats are made entirely of cardboard and duct tape and powered by 1-2 paddlers. The race will take place in the lap pool at Richard E. Workman Sports & Wellness Complex. Boats compete in individual heats for honor, glory and some pretty good trophies.

COMMITMENT
Captains and Crews who wish to participate in the HO HO HO ROW event make a commitment to the following:
• Construct a boat out of cardboard and duct tape -
• All boats are human powered (oars and paddles are acceptable as propulsion tools; you provide the oars/paddles; maximum of 2 people)
• Be at check in at 12:45pm
• Stay for brief awards ceremony after the race
• Dispose of or remove boat from property after the race

IMPORTANT DATES
November 23,2019 Last day for boat’s to register.
All boats must have submitted their final Name of Boat December 7,2019- RACE DAY!
• Boat crews should arrive at 12:30 PM, at this time they will be checked in, have their boats checked over and shown where to “park” their boat.
Awards ceremony begins immediately after the final race.

Awards

First, Second and Third Place Trophies will be awarded for the top three boats in each category.
• A cardboard boat must complete length of the course to qualify as a “finisher.”
• Best in Race Award(1st place) - Boat with best time.
• Second and Third place trophies will also be awarded•
• Awards Ceremony- will be held after the final heat, after the race and all boats are out of the water and the area is cleaned up.

Business - Retail, Fitness, Hotel, Fast Food, Factory, Bar, Radio Stations, Car Dealerships, Health Care, Ect…

CONSTRUCTION AND RACE RULES

• The ENTIRE boat must be built of CARDBOARD AND DUCT TAPE ONLY,
• Only exceptions are the paddles
• Use cardboard boxes, “blocks”, carpet tubes
• NO pre-treated cardboard allowed
• NO waxed or ‘treated’ cardboard
• NO wrapping in duct tape
• Duct tape may be used to reinforce seams
• The crew compartment CANNOT be enclosed so as to interfere with escape.
• All crew members MUST sign a Participant Waiver/Hold Harmless Agreement on race day. Boats will not be allowed to race without a signed agreement from each race participant.
• MAXIMUM of TWO crew members
• All boats are human powered (oars and paddles you provide are acceptable as propulsion tools)
• Boats should be less than 3 feet wide

CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
Permissible Materials
• Corrugated Cardboard
• Appliance or grocery store boxes
• Cardboard “blocks”
• Cardboard Tubes
• Duct or masking tape

Materials NOT Allowed
• Anything that is NOT cardboard or duct tape is not allowed.
