Abe's Army 5K - this is a 10-week program designed for newer runners and walkers wanting to get active and complete Abe's Amble 5K road race held on the final day of the Illinois State Fair in August.

Abe's Army 10K - this is a 12-week program designed to train new and experienced runners and walkers to complete Abe's Amble 10K road race.

During the training season, if Abe's Army participants want to adjust their training up or down, they will be allowed to request a transfer for training groups and/or Abe's Amble race distance. Participants are divided into groups of 15-20 based on similar fitness levels and led by two or more leaders per group.

We welcome runners and walkers of all abilities. Children under the age of 16 are welcome to join; however, they must be under the direct supervision of a parent/guardian and will be assigned to the same group. Please consult your family physician before undertaking any new exercise routine.

Orientation Meeting will be held on Monday, May 13th.

Leaders: orientation meeting and packet pickup will be at 5:45 p.m.

Recruits: orientation meeting and packet pickup will be at 6:45 p.m.

Please note: Anyone registering after May 1, 2019 is not guaranteed an Abe's Army Training t-shirt. Late registrations may pick shirt sizes from extra inventory, if any.

Abe's Army training sessions will be held on Monday evenings at 5:45 p.m. starting May 20, 2018 at the Illinois State Fairgrounds at the Commodities Pavilion across from the Grandstand. After that, your leader will instruct you to meet at the fairgrounds or Lincoln Park Shelter #7 (near the Nelson Center parking lot).

Parking is available in the fairgrounds in Lot #21, enter Gate 7 or Gate 11.

Please register as a Springfield Road Runners Club (SRRC) member at srrc.net/join before registering for Abe's Army. The cost of membership is $20 for adults, $30 for families (all at the same address), and $5 for students/youth. You will need your transaction code from your membership registration email to register for Abe's Army.
