Event Details

Our communities need music and we, in the spirit of Quad Cities Saxophone Christmas, will go virtual in 2020 allowing us to be together apart.

The 5th annual Saxophone Christmas was scheduled for Saturday, December 5, 2020 at NorthPark Mall, but instead of our usual sit down format, this year we'll use social media to perform and share our music.

Music Selections: We are thrilled to have this year’s music provided to Quad Cities Saxophone Christmas by Ryan Mantell, a member of the Megalopolis Saxophone Orchestra (MSO). The MSO is an organization on the East Coast dedicated to bringing together artists of “exceptional musicianship” to educate audiences about the saxophone family through new, as well as vintage, repertoire. Mr. Mantell has provided flexible instrumentation arrangements that can be played by any number of saxophonists at any level of experience- beginner to advanced, - solo, duet, trio, quartet, etc. Each arrangement includes a set of parts for the Eb saxophones (sopranino, alto, bari, contrabass) and a set of parts for the Bb saxophones (soprano, tenor, bass). You decide whether to go solo or create an ensemble of almost any combination. Pick your venue – home, school, indoors, outside – then play the ink or make the arrangements your own! Most important, record your performance and share it to the QCSaxmas Facebook page anytime on or after Saturday, December 5.

Registration fee: $0! We will not have a registration fee this year, as we will not be having a live event, nor goody bags or t-shirts. However, if you would like to make a donation to the 2020 Quad Cities Saxophone Christmas, we will forward any donations to Mr. Mantell and the MSO for sharing this year’s arrangements at no cost to our group.

How to Participate: If you’ve joined us before, you know the drill. If you are new, WELCOME! You’ll receive an email with a link to the music once we have received your registration information.

Step 1 – Register at qcsaxmas.com
Step 2 – Download the music
Step 3 – Perform and record the pieces
Step 4 – Share your performance on social media @ #qcsaxmas and as a public post on your own Facebook page

All saxophonists and saxophones are welcome and encouraged to participate. The arrangements are simple and can be learned in a run through or two. Spread the word and encourage others to participate with you!
