The Transition

The Transition Area of TRI Indy will be located at Celebration Plaza, in the heart of White River State Park. This large, grassy area is only steps from the swim exit and will give you a great location to start/finish each leg of the triathlon.

This open area is also a perfect for spectators who want to watch the event!

The Swim

The swim portion of the triathlon will be a point to point course in the beautiful Indianapolis Canal, which is 4-feet deep and 40-feet wide. The Canal will be cleaned over the 2018-2019 winter season!

Participants will start in waves, with faster swimmers going earlier than slower swimmers. Be sure to enter your swimming ability when you register. The depth of the canal is 4 feet deep. Swimmers will enter the water in 2-second intervals.

The Bike

Participants in the bike will ride through a scenic and fairly flat 12.5 mile loop. Olympic Distance will do 2 loops, while the Sprint Distance will do just 1 loop.

This course travels north, along the White River and up to the Velodrome, near 38th Street. As you return to downtown, participants will ride through the IUPUI Campus.

Expect great volunteer support and police protection along the way.

The Run

The 3.1 mile run course is flat and fast, so expect quick times! Olympic Distance will do 2 loops, while the Sprint Distance will do just 1 loop.

Participants will travel along the west side of the White River from Celebration Plaza, up to 10th Street, and then back along the east side of the river.
