Charity |
AiRS Foundation (Alliance in Reconstructive Surgery)
Providing breast reconstruction to breast cancer survivors who cannot afford this procedure.
www.airsfoundation.org
Mission |
AiRS exists to provide women access to breast reconstruction surgery, after mastectomy, to help restore their lives to normal and to provide full physical and emotional healing following breast cancer. AiRS was founded in Dallas and establishes a physician network to provide the capability, opportunity and funding to make breast reconstruction possible for these patients.
"In The Pink" 5 K is a community based event for Breast Reconstruction Awareness. It is held in November to illustrate that the struggle for breast cancer survivors, and particularly mastectomy survivors, doesn't end in October.
Restorative breast surgery is a vital part of total physical and emotional healing for many breast cancer survivors, yet up to 70% of those who would like to have it don't have the insurance or other financial resources to cover the costs. We invite everyone to join in this 5K to show solidarity and support for these courageous women and to help make a difference in helping them raise confidence and heal physically and emotionally from breast cancer.
