Parent Pathways 5K - Run/Walk - Grandma's Garden
Saturday, May 10, 2008 in Denver, CO at Cheesman Park - Franklin Street & 8th Street
Below is a poem I wrote sometime ago, when I was a little girl. My Grandmother has since passed away. I think even now that my biggest and most memorable memory of her is that of her working in her garden.
Grandma's Garden
Summer days come
Raspberries, beans, tomatoes, strawberries
Grandma's garden grows
Aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, friends
Come to Grandma's garden
Never knowing why they were drawn
But we knew why
As we ate right off the branches
Impeccable juices trickle down our chins
Grandma, works everyday, dirt covered
Blue jeans cut off
Old shirt, straw hat placed gently on her head
Tools in hand, I glance at her
Age has come, but beauty runs deep within
And shines brightly trough
We sit on the steps of her kingdom
And embellish her imperial creations
I, never telling the true secret
Between Grandma and her garden
And how it was our special place to get away
Miss and love you Grandma!

Just as she planted seeds in her garden, Grandma planted seeds in all the lives she touched! I am raising funds for the Parent Pathways 5K Run/Walk to honor my Grandma and her garden. Please join me and make a donation today to help me reach my goal to plant even more seeds in the lives of those who truly need and deserve the help they are given by Parent Pathways programs and services.
Thank you!
