CCVI Trolley Run - 32nd Annual - Aid 4 Aiden

Our family team, "Aid 4 Aiden", is back again this year! Our 8 year old son, Aiden, was born with periventricular leukomalacia (PVL) and later diagnosed with Cortical Visual Impairment (CVI). This is a vision impairment that is caused by the damage to Aiden's brain, not his eyes. CVI is the leading cause of pediatric visual impairment in developed countries. "Individuals with CVI experience a form of visual deprivation. Although they live in the visual world, they are unable to interpret what is seen. The world around them may appear as a visual kaleidoscope of meaningless color and pattern. It is filled with visual stimulation, but the input is meaningless without someone present to shape and clarify information.” (Christine Roman-Lantzy)

Aiden attended CCVI from 2016-2018 and received excellent care from their exceptional teachers and therapists. Aiden's CCVI team was amazing then and they continue to support Aiden and our family through our life journey! We were fortunate to have had a place to go that understood Aiden’s unique needs, embraced his individuality and helped him feel success! We are forever grateful!

We would love to have you join us on Sunday, April 26th to run (or walk) to support CCVI for all the tremendous work they do to prepare children with visual impairments to successfully live in the sighted world, and celebrate Aiden with us too!
