CCVI Trolley Run - 30th Annual - Our Journey for Jackie

Jackie had five major surgeries in the first 18 moths of her life and even more sedated procedures. She spent many months in and out of the hospital and with each inpatient stay it felt like she took a step back. Her last major surgery was in June, and after she recovered from that she took off. In the past six months She has made huge gains in eating, drinking, mobility, communication and understanding. She is now doing things we weren't sure we would ever be able to see. It is beautiful to watch.

Jackie has CHARGE syndrome and her little body has to work so hard just to do things that come naturally to others. Her day to day life certainty isn't the same as many other children her age and her "down time" often consists of therapy instead of play, but she is a warrior and smiles through it all. She currently gets many services in the home, including a TVI (teacher of the visually impaired) from CCVI and has other outpatient therapies three times a week. She has bilateral optic nerve colabomas and is legally blind. Since last year's Trolley Run she has gotten glasses and they have truly opened up her world; without them she can see only a few inches in front of her, with them....a few feet - at least. We are incredibly grateful for CCVI and all of the information and help they have provided over the past two years.

Please consider joining our team and walking or running with us in April, or donating if you are unable to attend in person. All of your donations will go directly to CCVI and to helping children like Jackie get all of the vision services they need to succeed.

Thank you for your support!
