The Nebraska National Guard, KFOR 1240 AM , and the Lincoln Track Club invite you to run in the 2013 Thunder Run. This unique event includes running on the airport taxiways of the Lincoln Airport, with both races beginning with the firing of a war cannon.

This is a fast, flat, out-and-back course on the west ramp of the airport. Nebraska's Army and Air military aircraft and equipment will be available before, during and after the race for up close viewing and picture taking. Army and Air personnel will allow you to look inside when possible. Bring your family and friends! Bring a camera! Fruit, donut holes, and drinks for all to enjoy after the race. All early entrants will receive a T-shirt and Kids 1-Mile finishers will receive prizes.

Early registration is done online by clicking on the link at the top of this page. Entry fee is $15 for the 5K. The Kid's 1-Mile is $6 for ages 12 and under; $10 for kids 13 and older.

Online registration is open until 11:59 PM CDT on Monday, August 5. Individuals may complete a late registration at the packet pickup location on Friday, August 9, for a fee of $25. (Cash and checks are accepted for late registration, credit/debit cards are not. There is no guarantee that late entrants will receive a T-shirt.)

Early packet pickup:
Friday, August 9, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM at the Lincoln
Running Company, 1213 Q Street.

Race day pickup:
Saturday, August 10, from 6:30 - 7:00 AM at the race location.

All runners who register early will receive a commemorative Thunder Run T shirt.

5K Awards: Lincoln Running Company gift certificates will be awarded to the top two male and female finishers:
1st: $50
2nd: $25.

Age group winners will also receive Lincoln Running Company gift certificates:

1st: $20
2nd: $15
3rd: $10

Age group divisions, separate for male and female runners: 14 & under, 15 19, 20 24, 25 29, 30 34, 35 39, 40 44, 45 49, 50 54, 55 59, 60 69, 70 & over.

This is the seventh LTC Kids Grand Prix race, a series sponsored by Pepsi. Grand Prix runners should enter online and pay the normal entry fee: Kids 12 and under $6; Kids 13 and older & $10. On race day, participants need to go to the Grand Prix Banner after finishing the race to receive your Grand Prix prize.

Parking will be on the west side of the Lincoln Airport near the intersections of West Mathis and NW 36th Streets. From NW 48th Street turn east onto West Mathis Street and proceed to NW 36th Street. Turn right and follow the signs to the designated parking areas. You will be directed where to park.

A warm-up area is available along with portable restrooms near the start-finish line. Runners are only allowed on the runways during the event. Please stay off the runway using only the specified warm-up area prior to the start of the race.

The Lincoln Airport Authority prohibits strollers, rollerblades and skates on the runway course. The use of personal music devices is strongly discouraged at this race. To enjoy all that our race has to offer and for the safety of all participants, the Thunder Run encourages a headphone-free environment.

Please be ready to follow instructions given my any Lincoln Airport Authority or military security personnel before, during, or after the race. This is important for safety reasons since we are on an active runway.
