AWF Run to Rescue 5k Walk/Run 2013

Race Details:
Join us for a 5k Walk/Run which is being held in conjunction with the 178th Annual Olin Jamboree in Olin, Iowa. This event is un-timed, non-competitive, and for ALL fitness levels. Your generous participation and contributions will assist the Animal Welfare Foundation of Iowa in caring for homeless animals in Jones County and building an animal shelter in Monticello, Iowa. Participants are welcome to enter with or without a dog. If you will be bringing your dog, please also bring a copy of the rabies certificate to the event. All participants will be entered into a random prize drawing. Stop by our Bake Sale and Pet Microchipping booth at Community Park after the parade to see if you're a winner!

Time: Run/walk begins at 8am. Registration begins at 7:00am.

Where: The race starts at the trailhead of the Grant Wood Trail in Olin on Resident Street. The trail is crushed limestone/asphalt, lined with trees that provide shade, and NO vehicular traffic.
Parking will be available across the street from the trailhead and also along Union Street and Carpenter Street.

All pledges must be turned in during registration on race day. If you received $100 in pledges/donations, you will receive a refund check for the amount of your registration fees.

During the race, please keep to the right side of the trail and allow faster runners to pass.

Come prepared for any type of weather. This might include rain gear, bug spray, and sunscreen. With the type of weather we've been having so far this year, I would come prepared for anything!

There is no running water or flushing toilets at the race site, but portable toilets will be available at the race start/finish.

Water will be provided for both humans and pets at the race start/finish and at the halfway point on the trail.

After the race, you and your dog(s) are welcome to join AWF in the Olin Jamboree Parade. The parade start is near the trailhead.

After the parade, AWF will have a booth set up near the North Pavilion in Community Park on Maple Street in Olin. We will be selling baked goods and will have pet microchipping available.

The cost is $15, or $12 if you have proof that your pet is adopted/rescued. There will be several other activities going on at the park as part of the Olin Jamboree Celebration.

Cancellation Statement - This event will occur rain or shine. We reserve the right to cancel only in extreme weather circumstances. In that event, there will be no refunds. Your registration fee will be used as a donation to AWF of Iowa's Shelter Fund.
