The Scheels Shoes That Fit 10K Road Race benefits Shoes That Fit. A local organization that provides shoes and clothing for children in need in central Iowa.

The 4th annual Scheels Shoes That Fit Race 10K is Saturday, August 24, 2013. The 10K Road Race starts at 7:00 am followed by the 1K Kids Run at 9:00 am.

The 10K Road Race will start in the parking lot in front of the Jordan Creek Town Center entrance just west of Scheels and finish at the lake in Jordan Creek Town Center. The 1K Kids Run will start at finish line for the 10K at the Jordan Creekk Town Center lake.

Timing
The Scheels/Shoest That Fit 10K Road Race is electronically chip timed with RFID technology by Race Monkey. Athletes will receive a race bib that has the electronic timing device attached to the back of their race bib. It is disposable after the race.

Awards
Overall prizes will also be given to top 3 female and male finishers. Age division awards will be given to the top 3 female and male finishers in the following age groups: 14-19. 20-29. 30-39. 40-49. 50-59. 60-69. 70 and up.

Refreshments
Water and Gatorade will be offered on the course and at the finish line. Stick around after the race for a great post-race breakfast by Hy-Vee.

All participants received a short sleeve, performance Scheels 10K shirt at packet pickup.

Shoes That Fit provides new shoes to children in need so that they can attend school in comfort and with dignity.

The national Shoes That Fit organization accomplishes this objective by matching a sponsoring group with schools near them that have children in need. The sponsor determines how many children they can help and the school identifies and measures students with materials Shoes That Fit can provide. The sponsor purchases the exact items the children in need require and delivers the items to their school. Every penny spent goes directly to the child.

On Media / Mediacom is a local sponsor of Shoes That Fit and has provided shoes and clothing to more than 28,800 children since they started sponsoring the program in Central Iowa.

Your donation to the On Media / Mediacom - Shoes That Fit program will go directly towards fulfilling the need of children in the Des Moines, Fort Dodge, Marshalltown and Ames Public School Districts.
