Girls on the Run 5K - Central Illinois

Join the Central Illinois community in celebrating the Girls on the Run 5k - for their fall 5K event. This special event is the official 5k for the fall Girls on the Run (GOTR) and Girls on Track (GOT) program participants. Walkers and runners of all ages and abilities are also invited to participate. The event will be held at Washington Park in Springfield, Illinois, located at 1500 South Grand Avenue.

The registration fee includes a short-sleeve, colorful, commemorative Girls on the Run 5k t-shirt, post-race food and drinks, and family-friendly activities. A time clock will be located at the finish line, for self-timing. Finishers medals will be given to all participants who complete the 5k distance, but no awards will be given for this non-competitive event. Plenty of smiles and laughter will reward you as you run and/or walk the 5k course around scenic Washington Park.

• Fall program Girls on the Run participants, coaches, and running buddies do not need to register.
  
• Online registration is encouraged. No online transaction fees are passed to registrants.
  
• To guarantee a t-shirt, early on-line registration is required. After Friday, October 26th, t-shirts or substitutes will only be provided as available.
  
• Online registration cost is $25 through Friday, October 26th, and $30 from Saturday, October 27th - Thursday, November 8th. Online registration closes at the end of Thursday, November 8th.
  
• During late registration (Saturday, October 27th - Thursday, November 8th) and race day registration, t-shirts are not guaranteed and are only provided as available.
  
• Paper registration cost is $30 through Friday, November 9th (packet pickup) and $35 on race day. Cash or check only. On race day, registrations will be accepted from 8:30am - 9:30am at Washington Park.
  
• Proceeds benefit Girls on the Run of Central Illinois.
  
• No strollers, pets or ear buds are permitted on the race course. All participants must wear the provided race bib.
  
• Only registered runners/walkers are permitted on the race course during the 5k.
  
• Parents are responsible to determine the appropriateness for their children to participate.
  
• We will run rain or shine, but we will delay the race if there is thunder or lighting. We consider your registration fee to be a donation.
  
• No refunds will be given in the event of race cancellation because of weather.

• Volunteers must register on-line by midnight, Wednesday, 11/7/12.
  
• All volunteers 18 years or older must agree to a Background Check, unless they have completed a GOTR Background Check within the past 24 months. Instructions for background checks will be provided to volunteers following event registration.
  
• All volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to be unattended. Youth 10-13 must be with an adult. No volunteers under age 10.

Friday, November 9th, 2012
Packet Pickup: 4:00 - 6:00pm at: GOTR Headquarters, 907 Clocktower Drive, Springfield, IL 62704 (For all registered race participants and volunteers to pick up essential items for the race). Interested parties can register during packet pickup. Packet pickup is also available the morning of the race during open registration.

Saturday, November 10th, 2012
8:30am: Final packet pickup, pre-race festivities including hair/face painting, fun activities, photo opportunities, and more!

10:00am: Official race start
