Race Options / Packet pick up / Late Registration |
- All of Friday's activities take place at the 5 Sullivan Brothers Convention Center, corner of West 4th and Commercial Streets.
[*]Packet pick up and late registration will start at 5:30 PM (not earlier) and end at 7:30 PM. Saturday packet pick up & late registration begin at 6:00 AM.
Host Hotel |
Participants can stay in one of the area's premier hotels, Ramada Inn Convention Center for a significantly discounted rate. The hotel is attached via skywalk to the packet pick up area. It's 10 minutes to the park from the hotel. Call 319-233-

Course Details |
Both race courses are USATF certified and perfect for a PR.
The half marathon is a loop course that takes participants along wooded trails, on the edges of Brinker Lake, along and over the Cedar River, and through 4 individual park or reserve areas. The course has a net elevation gain of 0% and does not include any 180 degree turns. There are plentiful fluid stations at key mile points. The half course is open for 3 hours for runners and 4 hours for walkers starting at 6:30.
The 10k is almost 100% flat and is an out and back on paved trail and the state park road.

Performance Wear |
New for 2012 - all entries include an upgraded long sleeve sweat wicking performance shirt. Half marathon shirts will have "HALF MARATHON" on the sleeve
Relay Info |
The half marathon relay can be made up of 2, 3 or 4 runners. There are no walking teams allowed. Teams are unisex and compete against one another no matter how many are on the team. Individual legs will vary between 2.4 & 4 miles and will
be announced as the race approaches. There are team awards for 1st through 3rd place overall. Team members
do not receive a half marathon finisher medal.
VIP Entry |
There are 130 VIP spots available for the first time in 2012 by paying one total fee.

Race Transfers |
There will be a $10 charge for transferring race distances or people up to August 1st, and it will be $15 until packet pick up from that date. Packet pick up transfers will cost $20 and
there are no transfers allowed race morning. Anyone who chooses not to follow the transfer policy will not be listed in the results and ineligible for awards at any distance other than registered for.

Parking |
The state park has limited parking close to the staging area so entrants are encouraged to come no later than 6:30 AM. Parking attendants will be present to help fill a number of parking lots that are interspersed within a 1/2 mile area. Please follow their directions and do not park on any grassy area.

Start/Finish |
The races are staged in the beautiful George Wyth State Park. The start area is in the same vicinity as the finish line, the Fisher boat ramp parking lot. The start and finish areas will have portable toilets available. A giant arch will welcome all racers across the finish line. There, the announcer will welcome you by your name and family can cheer you on from
the bleachers located near the arch.
Timing, Awards and Results |
Chip timing by End Result will be used for all races. Entrants are responsible for picking up the chip. If you don't have a chip, you won't have an official time nor will you be eligible for awards. Race results will be posted moments after people start finishing. Official results will be posted online at www.trekmanracing.com within hours after the end of the race.
- Overall winners 1st through 3rd get prize money. Half marathon both male/female: 1st - $150, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50
Course record for 1/2 marathon - $250 bonus - Awards for age groups will be 1st through 3rd
(does not include the 1st - 3rd overall winners) - Age groups: 13-19, 20-24, 25- 29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65 & over.
- Clydesdale - men 200 lbs and up.
Athena - women 150 lbs and up.
Separate categories for awards.
[*]All half marathon finishers get a custom finisher medallion with neck ribbon.
Aid Stations |
Each event will have fluid stations. The half marathon stations are plentiful and will include water, sports drink and oranges.
Other Details |
NO BABY JOGGERS, STROLLERS, PETS, BIKES, OR SKATES OF ANY KIND. Course includes occasional debris from trees. The trails are open to the public at all times, participants are asked to be courteous to others sharing the trail system as not everyone shares our passion for racing.
Post-Race Celebration |
Enjoy a great post-race celebration that includes music, massages, sandwiches from Hy-Vee, free pizza from The Other Place restaurant, bagels from Panera, an assortment of chips, fruit and cookies. Fahr beverage will provide free Michelob Ultra to race finishers over 21. Greenie the Clown will be on hand to make balloon animals for the kids.
