Race Day Information

Start
The Drake Relays Half Marathon presented by Mediacom & 8K Road Race presented by Scheels start at 8:00 a.m.

The start line is directly in front of Drake Stadium on Forest Avenue.

8K Road Race Course
The 8K Road Race presented by Scheels is a 4.97 miles race. It is USATF certified course. Mostly flat. The race shares the course with the Half Marathon for the first 2.75 miles before returning back to the finish along the same route. All miles are announced with split times. Water stations and porta potties are offered every other mile.
Half Marathon Course
The Half Marathon presented by Mediacom is a 13.1 mile race. It is USATF certified. Mostly flat. The race shares the course with the 8K Road Race for the first 2.75 miles before heading off on its own. All miles are announced with split times. Water stations and porta potties are offered every other mile. The Half Marathon course is protected for a 3 hour time limit. Athletes must maintain a 14:00 minute per mile pace to finish in time.
Finish
Both the 8K Road Race and Half Marathon finish near 25th & Carpenter Avenue in front of the Drake's Fine Arts Center.
The finish line is two blocks from the start line on the heart of the Drake University campus.

Medical attention, post race results, refreshments, osteopathic treatments by Des Moines University and the overall and age division awards ceremony will all take place at the finish line area.

Longer races (18,916 total finishers): Half Marathon (1994 to 2010) Matt Gabrielson 1:07:45 (2007) and Robyn Friedman 1:16:06 (2009) and Marathon (1969 to 1993) Charlie McMullen 2:15:19 (1978) and Janice Arenz 2:47:46 (1978)

Drake Relay Ticket Information

Drake Relays Half Marathon & 8K Road Race registration includes an invitation to the Drake Relays Hall of Fame induction ceremony and one general admission ticket to the Drake Relays Distance Carnival on Thursday, April 26, 2012.

Be sure to get your seat for the 103rd Drake Relays on Friday or Saturday, April 26-28, 2012.
