Every Thursday night in the month of June.
Join other runners of all ages and fitness levels for training runs.
Meet at Chrome Horse Saloon at 5:45 pm and depart at 6:00 pm.
Run all or part of the actual race course.
Bring a change of clothing to socialize afterwards!

The 26th Annual Alliant Energy Fifth Season 8K is THE Fourth of July event for competitive road racing in the Midwest. The race is a certified USA Track & Field 8K Run. The RACE IS ON July 4th celebrating 26 years!!

Start time is 7:00 AM prompt.

Electronic chip timing. Participants receive a commemorative moisture management shirt, course entertainment, and fabulous post-race party. Entry fee is $25-$35 depending on date of entry. No race day registration. Packet pickup only race day.

PRIZE MONEY/AWARDS (BASED ON GUN TIMES) |
$12,000 in prize money will be awarded to the top ten male and female overall finishers in the 8K race as follows: 1st - $ 2000, 2nd - $1,000, 3rd - $800, 4th - $600, 5th - $400, 6th - $350, 7th - $300, 8th - $250, 9th - $200, 10th - $100.
$400 in prize money will be awarded to the top master male and female runners to finish the 8K race as follows: 1st - $200
$400 in prize money will be awarded to the top grandmaster male and female runners to finish the 8K race as follows: 1st - $200
$600 in prize money will be awarded to the top three State of Iowa male and female runners to finish outside the top ten in the 8K race as follows: 1st - $150, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50. $50 bonus to any Iowan who finishes in the Top 10.
$600 in prize money will be awarded to the top Local County male and female runners to finish outside the top ten in the 8K race as follows: 1st - $150, 2nd - $100, 3rd - $50.
Local county finishers include residents in the eight county area of Linn, Johnson, Buchanan, Delaware, Benton, Jones, Cedar, and Iowa counties.
There will be no doubling of awards to State of Iowa and Local County prize money recipients.

AGE DIVISION AWARDS
Awards for male and female age divisions in the 8K race are as follows: 14 & under (top 5), 15-19 (top 5), 20-24 (top 5), 25-29 (top 5), 30-34 (top 5), 35-39 (top 5), 40-44 (top 5), 45-49 (top 5), 50-54 (top 5), 55-59 (top 5), 60-64 (top 5), 65-69 (top 5), 70 & over (top 3). All overall top ten finishers and top master and grandmaster finishers are ineligible for age division awards in the 8K race.

5k Fun Run/Walk |
The start is at Chrome Horse Saloon, 1202 3rd St. SE, Cedar Rapids. Start time is 8:15 AM. The Fifth Season 5K Fun Run/Walk is a non-competitive event giving you the chance to get out with friends, stretch your legs, and enjoy an Iowa morning. Enjoy a scenic, mostly flat out and back course along the Cedar River.
Participants receive a commemorative moisture management shirt, course entertainment, and fabulous post-race party.
Entry fee is $25-$35 depending on date of entry. No race day registration. Packet pickup only race day.

Kids' Fun Runs |
The Fifth Season Little Kid Fun Run for kids ages 5 and under begins at 9:30 AM, at Chrome Horse Saloon, 1202 3rd St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
The Fifth Season Big Kid Fun Run for kids ages 6-10 starts at 9:30 AM at Chrome Horse Saloon, 1202 3rd St. SE, Cedar Rapids.
The kids' fun runs are underwritten by KCRG TV-9 & Show You Care Sponsors. The staggered age group start begins with the youngest age division: kids 5 and under run 200 yards and kids 6 to 10 run a quarter mile.
All kids receive a finisher award. Parents may run with their children and strollers are welcome! Sorry, no pets allowed.

Expo - Registration - Packet Pick-Up -Fifth Season Expo |
Registration and Packet Pickup will be held upstairs at the Chrome Horse Saloon, 1202 3rd Street SE, Cedar Rapids, on July 3 from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Limited packet pickup July 4th from 6:00 to 6:45 AM (8k/5k) and from 6:00 to 8:00 AM (Kids Runs). Merchandise vendors will be on site.

Post-Race Party |
After the race, let the fun begin at our post-race parties! Enjoy plenty of music, food, drink and family fun in the Chrome Horse Saloon parking lot. Complimentary massages are available. Awards ceremony in parking lot at 10:00 a.m.
Refreshments provided by Pepsi, Gatorade, Nash Finch and Miller Lite. Be prepared to show a photo ID to receive alcohol.

Electronic Chip Timing |
All runners in the 8K & 5K will be provided a chip which must be affixed to your shoe and returned after you finish. You will be timed according to gun time. Failure to wear or return your chip will result in disqualification. There is a $10 charge for chips not returned. Refer to the back side of chip for mailing address if chip not returned after finish.

Race results will be posted at the race, and will also be available within 24 hours after the race at www.fifthseasonrace.com.

Donations |
The race will contribute a percentage of its total revenues (in addition to specific monies raised) to the Cedar Rapids Community Foundation and to Mercy Hospice House. Please join us in raising funds by writing a separate check to Cedar Rapids Community Foundation or to Mercy Hospice House with your race entry.
Download a contribution form at www.fifthseasonrace.com and record sponsorships from family and friends. Contribution form and monies must be turned in by packet pickup July 3. We will remit these donations as quickly as possible.
Entrants and sponsors over the past four years have donated in excess of $20,000 to these organizations.
