The Great Egyptian Omnium

2 Days - 3 Stages
July 10th and 11th, 2010


Where: Williamson County - Southern Illinois. Marion will be the primary site for lodging. Marion is o Interstate 57 at exit 54A & B.

The time trial and road race start/finish will be at Blue Sky Winery - 3150 South Rocky Comfort Road - Makanda, IL 62958. From Marion and all points north take Interstate 57 to Exit 45 to Illinois Rt. 148, North 2.7 miles to Grassy Road, west 5.8 miles to Rocky Comfort Road, south 4.7 miles.

When: Saturday July 10, 2010.

The criterium will be held in downtown Marion. From Marion, all points north or south take Interstate 57 to Exit 53 east toward Marion. Remain on Main Street 5 miles to downtown.

When: Sunday - July 11, 2010.

Course Description: Road Race follows a challenging route around Devils Kitchen Lake and the hill country of Southern Illinois. The time trial is hilly and challenging as well. The criterium is typical downtown streets.

Omnium Scoring
1. Riders must complete all three events to qualify
2. Points will be awarded to top ten finishers in each race (10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1)
3. In case of a tie, the rider with the best finish in the last race will win.

Stage 1 - Time Trial

Where: Williamson County - Southern Illinois. Marion will be the primary site for lodging. Marion is o Interstate 57 at exit 54A & B.

The time trial start will be at Blue Sky Winery - 3150 South Rocky Comfort Road - Makanda, IL 62958. From Marion and all points north take Interstate 57 to Exit 45, west to Illinois Rt. 148, north 2.7 Miles to Grassy Road, west 5.8 miles to Rocky Comfort Road, south 4.7 miles.

When: Saturday - July 10, 2010 starting at 8:00 am.

Start Times:
Group 1 - 8:00am to 8:59am
Group 2 - 9:00 to 9:30am

Riders will be started at 30 second intervals in order of registration.

Aero equipment permissible, but there is a significant climb on this course. Climbing gears and light wheels may be preferred. Drive or pre-ride is recommended.

Stage 2 - Road Race

Where: Williamson County - Southern Illinois. Marion will be the primary site for lodging. Marion is off Interstate 57 at exit 54A & B.

The road race start/finish will be at Blue Sky Winery - 3150 South Rocky Comfort Road - Makanda, IL 62958. From Marion and all points north take Interstate 57 to Exit 45 west to Illinois Rt. 148, north 2.7 miles to Grassy Road, west 5.8 miles to Rocky Comfort Road south 4.7 miles.

When: Saturday - July 10, 2010 starting at 10:15 am.

Course Description: Road Race follows a challenging route around Devils Kitchen Lake and the hill country of Southern Illinois.

Hill climbing wheels are recommended. There are many small ring climbs. Drive or pre-ride is recommended. This is one of the most challenging road races in Illinois.

Stage 3 - Criterium

Where: Williamson County - Southern Illinois. Marion will be the primary site for lodging and the criterium. Marion is o Interstate 57 at exit 54A & B or Exit 53.

The criterium will be held in downtown Marion. From all points take Interstate 57 to Exit 53 east toward Marion. Remain on Main Street 2 miles to downtomarion, Illinois.

When: Sunday - July 11, 2010 starting at 8:00 am.

Course Description: The criterium follows city streets through the downtown of Marion. The streets are typical paved roads.
