Art for Beds is an annual event that brings together artists from our
community and businesses working together to raise funds in support of the health care services provided by Gennesaret Free Clinics. Gennesaret Free Clinics provides free health care services to homeless and working poor persons in our community.

Gennesaret (pronounced jen-NES-sah-ret) Free Clinics came into being in February 1988, when Dr. James A. Trippi realized that homeless people lacked access to medical care.

Today, Gennesaret Free Clinics have medical clinics in five emergency shelters, at two food pantries and three medical van sites, as well as a dental clinic…all staffed by volunteers.

In 2009 Gennesaret Free Clinics provided the following care:

• The Dental Clinic had 2,990 patient visits providing services valued at $715,571.
  
• Our volunteers have cared for more than 4,904 patients at ten weekly clinic sessions providing the patients with examinations and medications.
  
• The Women's Health Initiative provided 175 mammograms, 164 well woman exams while reaching 400 women with breast health education.
  
• Gennesaret Free Clinics provided 100 people with eye exams and glasses.
  
• The Health Recovery Program provided care for 76 men. Of the men admitted to the HRP, 85% were placed in either permanent or transitional housing
  
after their discharge and 100% were assisted in obtaining mainstream resources, including a primary care provider... thus helping to break the cycle of homelessness.

It is the continued support from the community that enables Gennesaret to provide these much needed services.
