RGI River Run 5K

We are excited to announce the 14th Annual RGI River Run, presented by Duke Energy and benefiting Kicks For Kids (KFK), will once again kick-off the Tri-State's summer running season! Taking place at 9:15 AM on the Saturday (5/29/10) of Memorial Day weekend, the proceeds of the RGI River Run will support KFK's efforts to "level the playing field" for local children who are challenged physically, mentally or by the environment in which they live.

Last year's RGI River Run set new records for both the number of participants (1,330) and the amount of funds raised (over $45,000)! In an effort to build upon these successes, the unique components of the event will once again be featured. Registration and all of the post-race events will occur near the Purple People Bridge; the 5K run/walk will bridge Newport, Covington and Cincinnati; the touching Special K will take place for children with physical and/or mental disabilities; the exciting Children's Fun Run and the unique Parent/Child Teams will once again be offered; Cincinnati, Ohio's The RumRunners will perform live; participants will have the chance to win great awards and are registered for the highly anticipated door prize drawing; and each entrant will receive a ticket good for free food and drink at the post-event party at Arnie's on the Levee!

Our goal for the 14th Annual RGI River Run on 5/29/10 is for it to be an enjoyable event that appeals to top runners as well as recreational athletes and families, while raising funds for kids in the process! We are confident that on May 29th you will find that we have achieved this goal.

Saturday, May 29 at the Purple People Bridge (Newport)
9:15 AM: Special K (on 4th Street prior to 5K)
9:30 AM: 5K Run/Walk
10:30 AM: Children's Fun Run

5K Run/Walk: For those runners and fitness walkers 15 years old and above:

• 1st Male & Female - Each receives a $75 Gift Card to Outback Steakhouse
  
• 2nd Male & Female - Each receives a $50 Gift Card to Outback Steakhouse
  
• 3rd Male & Female - Each receives a $25 Gift Card to Outback Steakhouse
  

Also, the first 30 male and female runners and the top 10 male and female fitness walkers receive an aluminum sports bottle adorned with the RGI River Run logo. Except for the Gift Cards given to the top 3 male and female runners, all of these awards will be given out at the finish line.

Children: Trophies will be awarded to the top male and female runners in three divisions (8 & Under, 9-11, 12-14), as well as to the 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers in each of those divisions.

Children's Fun Run and Special K: All children who participate in either of these events will receive a commemorative medal.

All participants, their families and friends, and the event's volunteers are invited to Arnie's on the Levee for the post-event party. The celebration begins at 11:00 AM. At the party, each paid entrant, Special K athlete and volunteer can use the one (1) ticket they receive at registration for their choice of the following:

• If under 21, a hot dog or soft pretzels AND a soft drink
  
• If 21 or over, a hot dog or soft pretzels AND a 12 oz. MGD 64 bottled beer or a soft drink
  

Please note that these tickets can only be redeemed from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM on May 29, 2010.

from 12:00 - 7:00 PM Friday, May 28th

Race Day pick-up will be near the Purple People Bridge (Newport).

This year parents and children can compete as 2-person teams in one of two categories:

• combined ages 50 and under
  
• combined ages over 50
  

To compete as a team, both parent and child must put the same team name on their registration forms. Each team member remains eligible for individual awards as well.

Adults 18 and Over
$14 without a performance t-shirt
$26 with a performance t-shirt

Kids 12 - 17
$10 without a cotton t-shirt
$20 with a cotton t-shirt

Kids 6 - 11
$8 without a cotton t-shirt
$18 with a cotton t-shirt

Kids 5 and under
free (no t-shirt)
$10 with a cotton t-shirt

All registration ends at midnight on Wednesday, May 26th, 2010.
