What is the Gary Burns Frisco Fun Run? |
Approximately 3,000 runners, walkers and volunteers participate in a 5K run/walk and 1-mile walk at Frisco Square, Frisco, TX.
When Frisco Assistant Fire Chief Gary Burns passed away in September, 1999, he left a community forever touched by his dedication, compassion, energy, and faith.
We honor Gary's unparalleled commitment to Frisco with a Fun Run which enables us to build a brighter future for our children.

About our Beneficiary |
The Frisco Education Foundation is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) started in 1999. The Foundation's mission is to provide financial resources to maximize student potential in the Frisco Independent School District through educational scholarships, including the Gary Burns Memorial Scholarship for high school seniors and teachers through innovative "Grants for Great Ideas".

Awards and Medals |
You must wear a timing chip/tag (provided) to be eligible for the 5K awards.
Awards will be given to the following 5K categories:
Trophies:
1st Overall Male, Female, and Masters (40-59), Seniors (60+).
Top (3) Civic, Corporate, and ISD Teams.
1st Place Participation Award, Civic, Corporate, and ISD.
Team Categories.
Spirit Award.
Medals:
Top (3) Finishers in the following age categories: 5-7, 8-10, 11-13, 14-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, and 70+.

Something for Everyone |
A certified, USTAF sanctioned 5K run for serious athletes.
A 1-mile Walk/Fun Run where strollers, children, leisure walkers and anyone who wants to participate is welcome (registration is required).
Entertainment for all ages and plenty of fun for the kids (including the Frisco Fire Clowns).

T-shirts |
Attractively designed cotton event t-shirts for participants. T-Shirts will be given out at packet pick-up on a first come, first served basis.
Participants who register late or do not pick up their packet are not guaranteed an event T-Shirt.

Electronic Timing/Scoring |
Electronic chip/tag timing will be used at this event for the 5K Run. Chips may be picked up on race day near registration with your race number. You must wear a chip to be timed and eligible for awards. Chips must be surrendered before leaving the finish line area.
