Sponsor-A-Champ |
Dear Friends,
Working through the Autumn Classic 8K Run and Walk, Playmakers and Bobby Crim are encouraging individuals, small groups and businesses to sponsor 100 Special Olympians, intellectually disabled athletes between the ages of 8 and 60+, for a season in their own sport. The Special Olympics Program provides quality, year-round sports training and athletic competition for the Area 8 athletes. The Area 8 Special Olympics Program is a volunteer, non-profit organization that does not receive federal or state funding. All monies needed to run the program are raised in our local communities and spent on local athletes. There is no cost to the athletes or their families to participate in Area 8 Special Olympic events.
By contributing to the Sponsor-A-Champ Program you will guarantee that Special Olympics athletes from Ingham and Eaton counties have the opportunity to participate in the Special Olympics Program. Some of the 22 Olympic-type sports include: aquatics, skiing, track & field, basketball, bocce ball, bowling, cycling, softball, handball, volleyball, golf and floor hockey. The cost to provide each Special Olympian with training, equipment, uniforms, state and local events registration, transportation, facilities, and health appraisals is $150 per event.
Would you please consider sponsoring an athlete or make a tax-deductible donation through the Autumn Classic’s Sponsor-A-Champ Campaign? Any amount will help us reach our goal. A donor board will be posted at Playmakers to acknowledge contributions and track our progress toward this goal.
Thanks to all who have contributed to making the goal – and the dreams of local Special Olympians – a reality!
