JDRF 5K (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), the leading charitable funder and advocate of juvenile (type 1) diabetes research worldwide, was founded in 1970 by parents of children with juvenile diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes is a disease which strikes children suddenly, makes them insulin-dependent for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. Since inception, JDRF has provided more than $800 million in direct funding to diabetes research. JDRF's mission is constant: to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.

More than 80 percent of JDRF's expenditures directly support research and research related education.

JDRF is a 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation. All donations to JDRF and its chapters and branches are tax deducible.

JDRF has received top ranking from the American Institute of Philanthropy and other independent sources that rate charitable giving.

Course
The 5K course begins and ends on at North Hill Medical Center in Burlington. The route takes the participants through historic North Hill along the top of the Mississippi River Bluff. Along with a large number of historic homes, this route passes the Burlington Public Library, Mosquito Park (with it's panoramic view of the Mississippi River Valley) and Snake Alley.

Timers will be located at each mile marker and the finish line.

Awards:
Cash prize for male and female overall winners:
1st place = $500
2nd place = $250
3rd place = $100

Age group winners = Hy-Vee gift card

Registration fee before September 13 is $18.
Registration fee after September 13 is $20.
