On September 28, Teddy Bear Christian Child Development Center will be partnering together with United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) and the Village of Riverton to host the first-ever ‘Back to the 80s’ 5K Color Run, benefiting United Cerebral Palsy Land of Lincoln and the local Our Child without Limits programming.

United Cerebral Palsy Land of Lincoln is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing quality services, programs and advocacy to individuals with all types of disabilities. Beginning in 2019, UCP extended their programming, offering services and support to local students around the area under a pilot program titled Our Child without Limits.

In an effort to support the agency and ongoing services being offered within the Riverton school district, local entities are joining together to host a 5K Color Run with the theme ‘Back to the 80’s.’ Local residents and runners are encouraged to embrace the nostalgia, channel their inner Marty McFly and come out to support a great cause on September 28.

Interested participants can pre-register for the event at a discounted cost. General admission tickets, which include a race ticket, t-shirt and bottle of water are $30.00. Premium tickets, which include a race ticket, t-shirt, bottle of water, sun glasses, official race temporary tattoo and a personal packet of colored chalk, cost $40.00. Attendees can also register at the race beginning at 9:00 a.m., with ticket prices increasing by $5.00.

The race will kick off at 10:00 a.m., beginning at the Field of Dreams in Riverton. Runners and walkers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come out and show their support for the local cause. The ’Back to the 80s’ Color Run is also seeking interested sponsors to donate to the event. Sponsors will have their names on future promotional materials. Interested sponsors should contact UCP Child Development Specialist Tim Fanning at tfanning@uspll.org for more information.

Prizes will be awarded for best costumes and race times for each age category. Inflatables and food vendors will also be available for participants.
