Our Fundraising Effort-We are raising money to put an AED in the local community building |
The Firth Fire and Rescue Department is hosting a 5k running event called "The Beat Goes on" on June 25th, 2016. We are raising money to put an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) in the Firth Community building. The use of a AED can increase the chance of surviving SCA (Sudden Cardiac Arrest) by 70%. The chance of survival for SCA decreases 7-10% for every minute that passes for someone in SCA. Because we are a volunteer agency our response time is a little longer. With the installation of the AED in the community center survival rate will rise. Which is why the Firth Fire Department has decided to host this fundraiser, a 5k running event to put the device into the community center. The day's events will start on the south side of the Firth Reformed Church with a kids fun run at 8am. Please dress in your most patriotic costume. Prizes will be given to the 1st, 2nd, 3rd place girl/boy. The 5k will start at 8:30. After the race you can refuel at the Firth Fire Station with a free will donation pancake feed.
