About the Event

Thank you so much for registering your team to join the DSAF for the Capital City Step UP for Down Syndrome walk on October 1st, 2016! We are really looking forward to a great day and we couldn't do it without you. We are so excited to that this will be the largest walk in 15 years! The day of the walk is such a fun day, but it can also be pretty crazy. We want you to have some more information about the day to help it run more smoothly for everyone. The festivities officially begin at 8:00 am at Antelope Park (near 30th & A street).

Auld Center

You'll want to go first to the Auld Center. Inside, you will need to check in at the registration table (even if you registered online). You will also have the opportunity to drop off donations, and check out the exciting Silent Action items. There are also special $5 Grand Prize raffle tickets that could be used to win an iPad Mini. Each of our VIP Guest's with Down syndrome will automatically be entered in the drawing to win the Grand Prize. While anyone can purchase the special prize raffle tickets, the prize can only be won by an individual with Down syndrome. If you purchase a $5 raffle ticket, you need to designate your favorite person with an extra chromosome to win! Tickets must be used prior to the start of the walk.

Stars Display and Information Booth

Just East of the Auld Center is the Stars Display. There will be an Information Booth where you can get more information about the DSAF, buy many different Down syndrome awareness items including a - fresh off the presses - 2016 calendar featuring some of the fabulous Fact Signs you will see around the walk path!

Food & More

The enclosed shelter will house the free food and drinks available. There are also tons of activities to participate in while you wait for the walk to begin. There will be hair and face painting, a fire truck, The String Beans and much more all around the area. Of course there is also the awesome playground available too.

The three teams with the Most Walkers and the three teams that raised the Most Money will have tents this year as a reward for their hard work. Visit their tents and tell them congratulations. Also check them out to see how your team could use them next year!

Pictures

Team pictures can be taken near the balloon arch starting point before or after the walk or anywhere in the park.

The Walk

The walk will start no later than 9:30. We will recognize the team with the Most Walkers and the team that raised the Most Money by allowing them to start the walk. We ask that you pass this information along to your team and respect their accomplishment and commitment to the DSAF.

After the walk, we will present the medals to the top teams, the winners of the raffle prizes will be announced and the festivities will come to an end.

Thanks for helping the planning committee make this the best walk yet. Lots of hard work goes into making the even go off as smoothly as possible.
