About The Event

Race Away from Domestic Violence is a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk/wheelchair roll to benefit the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Full details about the event are available at www.icadvinc.org/events/race-away-from-domestic-violence/.

Since its beginning in 1980, ICADV has worked to ensure that people who help survivors have the information and resources they need. To prevent future violence, ICADV advocates for change through public policy, informational campaigns to increase awareness and educating young people on the cyclical nature of violence so we can all say "No More" in Indiana.

Course

The start and finish will be at to Victory Field on the corner of Maryland and West Street. This 5K course will loop you thru some scenic parts of downtown Indianapolis.

Awards

Awards will be presented to the top 3 finishers in each age group in the 5K (5 year increments). Finishers medals to all boys and girls age 12 and under.

Schedule

Early Packet Pick-Up for teams: Friday, June 5, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at ICADV, located at 1915 W. 18th St., Suite B, Indianapolis, IN.

Race Day: Saturday, June 6, 2015

There will be an exhibitor's area that is open before and after the races.

Details

Please, no dogs or skates. Strollers are permissible. You must maintain a 18 minute per-mile for the 5K event. For the Competitive 5K, you will be given an IPICO timing tag that you must return after you finish. If you do not return this tag, you will be charged $20 by the event organizers.

The race director and event staff have the right to cancel the event due to extreme weather conditions or other emergency situations. In cases of extreme weather, the decision will be made by 7:00AM on the morning of the event. News will be made available in the electronic media and through social media networks. Should the event be cancelled, delayed, or reformatted due to weather conditions or other emergencies, there are no refunds.

Parking

There is limited FREE parking in the Victory Field parking lot - first come first serve. After that lot fills, participants are encouraged to use the White River State Park Garage just across the street (fee is $3.00 for up to 3 hours, $7.00 for 3-6 hours - credit cards are accepted).

Pledges

This event is a fundraiser for ICADV, who encourages all participants to seek pledges. Awards will be presented to the three individuals who collect the most pledges. Pledge forms and money may be turned in at the event or to ICADV by June 12, 2015. Pledge forms are available online at www.icadvinc.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/07/pledge-form.pdf

We also encourage you either individually or as a team to create a First Giving page to help us raise funds to support services for victims of domestic violence You may create your own page and solicit contributions or sponsor someone else who has a First Giving page.. The process is easy and can be accessed through www.firstgiving.com/icadv.

Teams may pick-up their packets on Friday, June 5 from 8:00AM until 4:00PM at the ICADV office or on race day (Saturday, June 6) from 6:45AM - 8:00AM at Victory Field.

ICADV is encouraging teams in this year's event. Groups of families, friends, co-workers are welcome to set up a team, An award will be given to the team with the most participants. A minimum of four participants is required per team.
