About the Program |
The 5K Training Program is geared towards walkers and runners who would like to learn to run and build their endurance to complete a 5K. The program will offer the benefits of improved cardiovascular fitness, reduced adverse health factors, and safe training methods. The target graduation race is the Women's Distance Festival 5K on August 16, 2014.
Program Structure |
The program is an 11 week training program consisting of three workouts per week, during which all participants will train as a group with the coach and pace leaders.
In addition, occasionally other "guest" pace leaders will be invited to participate in the training program. Meeting days will include:
* Saturdays at - 6:30 AM
* Monday at 7:00 PM
* Wednesday at 7:00 PM

* University of Maryland Track (College Park, MD)
* Prince George's Community College Track (301 Largo Rd, Upper Marlboro, MD)
Program Requirements |
* Ages 18 and up
* Ability to walk and willingness to run
* Active club membership status
* Participants are required to volunteer at one club event during the program.
