River Run 5k

We are excited to announce that the 11th Annual RGI River Run, which benefits Kicks For Kids (KFK), will once again launch the Tri-state's summer running season! Taking place at 9:15 AM on the Saturday (5/26/07) of Memorial Day weekend, the proceeds of the RGI River Run will support KFK's efforts to help local children who are challenged physically, mentally or by the environment in which they live. In addition to utilizing the moneys for its own youth programs, KFK will direct a portion of the event proceeds to Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center -- to assist the Division of Child Life and the Aaron W. Perlman Center.

Last year's RGI River Run set records in terms of number of participants and funds raised. In an effort to build upon these successes, the unique features of the event will once again be celebrated -- Registration and all of the post-race events will occur at the scenic Purple People Bridge; the 5K run/walk will bridge Newport, Covington and Cincinnati; the touching Special K for children with physical and/or mental disabilities will once again be offered, as will the exciting Children's Fun Run; Cincinnati, Ohio's The Rum Runners will perform live; participants will have the chance to win a $500 Meijer shopping spree, and each entrant will receive a ticket good for free food and drink at the post-event party at Arnie's on the Levee!

Our goal for the 11th Annual RGI River Run on 5/26/07 is for it to be a quality fundraiser that appeals to top runners as well as recreational athletes and families. We are confident that on May 26th you will find that we have achieved this goal.

Saturday, May 26 at the Purple People Bridge (Newport)

9:15 AM - Special K (on 4th Street prior to 5K)
9:30 AM - 5K Run/Walk
10:30 AM - Children's Fun Run

5K Run/Walk: For those runners and fitness walkers 15 years old and above:

1st Male & Female - Each receives a $75 Gift Certificate to The Tavern Restaurant Group
2nd Male & Female - Each receives a $50 Gift Certificate to The Tavern Restaurant Group
3rd Male & Female - Each receives a $25 Gift Certificate to The Tavern Restaurant Group

Also, the top 10 male and female runners receive our event-specific Headsweats(r) race hat. In addition, the first 25 male and female runners and the top 10 male and female fitness walkers receive a distinctive award. All of these awards will be given out at the finish line.

Children: A season pass to the Newport Aquarium and a trophy will be awarded to the top male and female finishers in three divisions (8 & Under, 9-11, 12-14). The 2nd and 3rd place male and female finishers in each of those three divisions will receive a trophy.

Children's Fun Run and Special K: All children who participate in either of these events receive a commemorative award.

All participants, their families and friends, and the event's volunteers are invited to Arnie's on the Levee for the post-event party. The celebration begins at 11:00 AM. At the party, each paid entrant, Special K athlete and volunteer can use the one (1) ticket they receive at registration for their choice of the following:

. If under 21, a hot dog AND a soft drink
. If 21 or over, a hot dog AND a pint of draft beer or a soft drink

Please note that these tickets can only be redeemed from 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM on May 26, 2007

All registration ends at midnight on Wednesday, May 23, 2007.

This year parents and children can compete as 2-person teams in one of two categories:

* combined ages 50 and under
* combined ages over 50

To compete as a team, both parent and child must put the same team name on their registration forms.
