10th Annual Live Healthy Linn 5K Fun Run & Walk

Linn County Public Health is pleased to be co-hosting the 10th Annual Live Healthy Linn 5K with its new partner – City of Hiawatha Parks and Recreation!

This event highlights National Public Health Week and wraps up the conclusion of the Live Healthy Iowa (LHI) 10-Week Wellness Challenge. *You do not need to be involved with LHI if you want to participate. Event will be Saturday, April 6th, 2013. Race starts at 8:00am, with registration from 6:30am - 7:30am.

NEW!! Please note that our location will be at Guthridge Park in Hiawatha, IA this year. The course will remain 3.1 miles and will start and stop at Guthridge Park. *Race course open to traffic*

5K Run Male: 0-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+;
5K Run Female: 0-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+;
5K Walk Male: 0-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+
5K Walk Female: 0-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70+

Awards: Awards will be presented to the top finisher of the 5K Run Male; 5K Run Female; 5K Walk Male; and, 5K Walk Female. NEW this year we are offering a prize to the person who comes closest to their guessed time as indicated on their registration form!!! NO WATCHES ALLOWED ON RACE COURSE TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR PRIZE!

Packet Pick Up will be available Friday, April 5th from 3-7p.m. at the Hiawatha Community Center and 6:30-7:30 a.m. on race day at Guthridge Park.

Participants who register for the walk and would like to be eligible for an award must follow the United States Track and Field (USATF) Definition of race walking:

• Race walking is a progression of steps so taken that the walker makes contact with the ground so that no visible (to the human eye) loss of contact occurs.
  
[*]The advancing leg must be straightened (i.e., not bent at the knee) from the moment of first contact with the ground until in the vertical upright position.
